Bloom's Taxonomy Questions for Of Mice and Men

1. How is Lenny and Crooks similar?

Lenny and Crooks are similar because they both are disabling. Though Lenny is mentally disable because of his retardation. He's physical appearance is strong. Crooks is physically disable because of his hunched back. Also Crooks is emotionally disabled because of the loneliness that he feels because he’s the only black guy out of the group.

2. What are some of the problem that George has?

George’s main problems are Lenny and that fact that he doesn’t leave the American dream. The reason why Lenny is a problem because for one he is retarded and two he can’t remember anything except for what George says about the bunnies. The other problem is George not have the American dream he is an average ranch worker and he’s not satisfied living that life.

3. Why do you think that Curley's Wife was such a whore?

I personally don't think that she was a whore I think that she was just very lonely because of tha fact that Curley treated her like trash also because of the lies that were promised to her that never happened. Though she was very seductive that's only because she wanted some male attention just like any other women.

4. Do you think that the incident between Curley's wife and Lennie could have happened today in the city?

Yes I think that could have happened. Look at it like this Lennie got a taste of something soft that he liked and didn't want to stop touching it not even when Curley's wife told him to stop. In today's life woman use their bodies all the time and men use their penis to fall for the vicious and deceitful lies that the women tell them.

5. Why did George's feelings change about Lennie after the incident with Curley's wife?

George's feeling changed about Lennie because he was becoming a hand full. Lennie started to get more out of control between the murder of the mouse, the dog and Curley's wife. George felt that Lennie would be better off dead and that if was going to be put to death for the murder of Curley's wife then he wanted to be the one to lay him at his finally resting place.

6. What was the problems between Curley and Lennie?

The problem was that Curley was jealous of Lennie because of the attention that Curley's flirty wife gave to Lennie. Though Lennie didn't notice the extra attention Curley did and that forced him to attack Lennie. They got into an altercation and to make a long story short Curley goy his hand busted down to the white meat.

7. What was the turning in this story?

The turning point was when George realized that there was no explanation for what Lennie did to the mouse, puppy or to Curley's wife. He then came to the conclusion that he could either allow Curley and the gang to kill Lennie or for him to do it hisself. So he met Lennie at the only place that he know was safe and he did what he thought was right.

8. Was Lennie's death a signifance symbol?

Yes, it was a symbol because when Candy allowed Carson to kill the his dog instead of him being a man about the situation and put the dog out of his misery since it was his, but he was a coward that allowed his friend to kill his friend. So George thought about that before he allowed a group of people that he barely knew to kill his weary friend. He took responsibility and made the choice to put Lennie out of his misery but only for his own good.

9. Where did the setting take place?

The setting took place on the ranch but the ranch wasn't just any ranch it was the ranch that ended the lives of many and changed people. At the ranch Lennie accidently killed a puppy and Curley's wife. That changed the setting because Lennie knew that he was in trouble so he went to the only place where he knew that he could be helped, the water. Which is the place that George told him to go if he was ever in trouble.

10. What would you change about the story if you could?

The time period I would make the story be in modern times. I would make things in a different city but the same genre. I would want the story to take place in the city of Philadelphia and I would change the scenario to women being the main characters. The main thing I want to change is the sexuality of Crookes he would a homo-sexual.
